Winning the $50,000 SimpleGenerosity grant from Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union would benefit the Canadian Cancer Society’s Camp Goodtimes, the benefactor of the Just Breathe campaign. Just Breathe supports children living with cancer, enabling children to attend Camp Goodtimes located in Maple Ridge. In addition to providing specialized programming for teens and youth in the summer, Camp Goodtimes runs a Youth Council that engages youth who are cancer survivors or patients who are going through or have just completed their treatments, in meaningful activities throughout the year. Through the Youth Council, workshops and activities are identified and developed to provide tips and tools to help boost teens’ confidence and reduce their anxiety. The council’s activities rotate around three major themes: giving back to the community, learning essential life skills and having fun.
