We continue to share our grantee recipient charities from last year while we send out a new batch of grants to our newly minted 2023 charity recipients!
Today we introduce you to Mamas for Mamas; 2022 recipient of a $10,000 Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union, a division of First West Credit Union grant, housed with the First West Foundation.
Supporting Mothers in crisis and low-income Mamas and their children, Mamas for Mamas is on a mission to change the landscape of poverty through innovative approaches to social and financial barriers faced by struggling families.
Intake is facilitated by a social worker and with limited funding for a social worker, there is limited capacity for their mission.
“Whenever we wonder how to respond to a situation beyond our resources on hand, we respond like a mother. We respond with the fierce protection of a mama bear as we remember Margaret Mead’s wisdom when she said, ‘never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens could change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’”
Whether through financial crisis, episodic or chronic poverty, situations beyond your control or natural disaster, their motto is “come to Mamas.”
