Winning the $50,000 SimpleGenerosity grant from Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union will allow them to expand and ensure the sustainability of their annual community outreach event called “Day at the Farm”. The free family event offers a unique opportunity for residents of the Lower Mainland to interact and engage directly with the farms that feed them, as well as gain a better understanding of the importance of local farms for supporting critical wildlife habitat in the Fraser River delta. Activities at the event include farmer-led hay wagon tours, B.C. Dairy milking shows, sheep shearing and rope-making demo, a mini-live auction, wildlife conservation displays, live music and local food.
