BIG piano news at the Prince George Conservatory of Music!

The PG Community Foundation gave the PG Conservatory of Music an incredible boost this December—a $35,000 grant to help us buy a beautiful new grand piano for our performance space! With generous pledges from P.S. Pianos ($12,200), Trinity United Church and Integris Credit Union ($2,000), we’re now just $11,000 away from bringing home a Yamaha C3X! having a high-quality piano is essential for the growth and development of both our students and faculty. A well-maintained, responsive instrument allows students to learn, practice, and perform at their best, fostering musical skills and a deeper appreciation for the art. For our faculty, access to a professional-grade piano is crucial for delivering high-quality instruction and inspiring performances.
However, because we prioritize keeping our music lessons and performances affordable and accessible, we don’t have the operations budget for a significant expenditure like this. Investing in the maintenance and quality of our piano aligns perfectly with our mission to provide high-caliber, inclusive music education while supporting the broader musical ecosystem.
Our piano is a vital resource for the broader music community, as many local musical groups use it for their own rehearsals and performances. By providing an instrument in excellent condition, we are supporting not just our own students, but also the cultural life of our entire community. There are not many performance spaces in PG, and it is essential for the health of our musical community that accessible venues are available and contain high quality instruments.
You can help by sponsoring a white key for $100, a black key for $150, or a full octave for $1,450. Key sponsors will be invited to our “Grand” reveal concert, and octave donors will be recognized on a plaque on the piano! Let’s bring this incredible instrument to life—for our students, audiences, and the whole community!
