What people are saying about us
Tim BennettBig Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC

As an organization we believe that one small action can spark something big. That an investment of time and energy can ignite the power and potential of our communities youth. Integris Credit Union has provided that one spark over and over again. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC is a proud member of Integris Credit Union and are so thankful for the ongoing support of the organization. Their staff activity participate in and attend agency fundraising events , they volunteer their time as mentors and more importantly they saw potential and have helped us create change. Integris took a chance on what seemed like a crazy idea and became a presenting sponsor of our Community Shuttle Program. Their support in helping us purchase vans means not only can we run our child care programs but can eliminate barriers and ensure all youth can participate in programs. In addition, these vans helped us become more sustainable. We would not be where we were if it wasn't for Integris!

Amanda AlexanderYMCA of Northern BC

Our partnership with Integris Credit Union has a tremendous effect on the YMCA’s ability to impact the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities. Integris and the YMCA are building a stronger region through a number of initiatives including the Integris Community Centre in Vanderhoof and Foundry in PG. Our innovative collaboration has resulted in the YMCA of Northern BC winning a YMCA Canada Innovation Award and enabled our organization to develop capacity, capability and impact throughout the region.”

Elaine StoreyAutumn Services

The staff and volunteers at Autumn Services work together like a family. We support one another through idea sharing and are never afraid to ask for help when tackling a new situation. At Autumn Services we have welcomed Integris into our family and have happily shared their great success with our community. When they were new to the community, we opened our doors to them and created an atmosphere where friendships could be fostered and supported. Our community and Autumn Services are richer thanks to our new friends and family at Integris Credit Union. Thank you for believing in us.

Stories of our community involvement
The Nechako Community Arts Council has completed a beautiful mural on the Integris Community Centre!
Get a selfie in front of the wall and sent it to nechakoarts2@gmail.com to be entered to win a local prize.

Our friends at the Crooked Leg Ranch in Quesnel would like Integris friends and followers to know that there is more to Animal Rescue than adoptions!
Buster is from another organization that contacted us because he was a medical disaster! Once we saw Buster we couldn't turn him away, through lots of trial and error, consults with Animal Dermatology Specialist, red light and massage therapy, Buster is happy, healthy, and living his best life! More on Crooked Leg Ranch below ...
For Credit Union Day 2021, every member visit to our branches meant we donated $1 to our "Love Local pool” and that day, we had 700 member visits. We then asked staff to vote for their favourite LOCAL non-profit organisation. We had a virtual tie between the Crooked Leg Ranch and a PG organization so we are pleased to share that Integris members and staff have enabled a donation of $350 to Crooked Leg Ranch! The other org will be shared at a later date. :-)
From our friend Willow, "The Crooked Leg Ranch was formed because there were animals that weren't fitting the mold of what most rescue organizations would take in, usually because they were considered "unadoptable" because of behavioral or medical challenges. Even though their issues are manageable, it either would cost too much time or money to get them to that point.
At the beginning of Crooked Leg Ranch, some years our animal intake numbers were in the hundreds, but that is no longer sustainable. The last few years, we have seen a huge increase in the need for a pet food bank, not only in our community, but other rural communities as well. We work with local Pet stores, as well as another grass roots group called The Good Haul from the Lower Mainland (which by the way, the Good Haul is a story in itself) to stock our shelves and help distribute pet food in our community.
We also assist low-income people help pay for spay and neutering of their pets to prevent unwanted litters, and when money allows, we also will help with other emergency vet bills as well. However, with COVID-19 and lack of fundraising, we haven't been able to offer the service of low-income emergency vet bills for a while. We provide sanctuary to 2 ponies, 1 donkey, 1 horse, 4 pigs, 7 llamas, and currently 2 dogs, who all have individual special needs."
Please join us in thanking Willow and her team - that's Life Out Here™ - we Love Local!
We received word this week that Integris Credit Union’s Insurance Division was successful in applying to the Intact Insurance "Better Communities Program" for a grant of $5,000 in support of the YMCA of Northern BC 's #FoundryPG Youth Centre.
Foundry Prince George is an integrated health and social service hub for young people ages 12-24. Located in Prince George, Foundry PG serves youth and communities throughout the North given that so many youth come to PG from across the region. Beyond that, "Foundry Virtual" provides "access anywhere" for youth in Northern BC and beyond.
Alongside partners, the YMCA of Northern BC offers a “one-stop-shop” for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services, and youth and family peer supports. Foundry PG is part of a larger provincial initiative expanding access to services and supports for young people across BC. At Foundry, young people can find hope, help and support for their wellness needs.
Intact's Better Communities Program is helping to create resilient communities. The Program allows brokers (i.e., Integris Insurance) to partner with Intact to support local initiatives. Operating since 2018, the Better Communities Program has donated more than one million dollars to charitable organizations and community initiatives important to broker partners like Integris Insurance. In particular, the Program addresses child poverty, youth success, mentorship, leadership and education.
Together, Intact Insurance and Integris Credit Union are Lovin' Local by building Better Communities and enriching Life Out Here!
Foundry provides innovative and integrated health and social supports for young people ages 12-24 and their families: primary care, mental health and substance use counselling, peer support, family support, practical and navigation support, therapeutic and social groups and activities.
Foundry Prince George opened in October 2017 and is one of five original Foundry sites. It is part of a growing network of branded Foundry sites throughout BC. The YMCA of Northern BC operates Foundry Prince George, in partnership with Northern Health, the Ministry for Children and Family Development, the Prince George Native Friendship Centre, Intersect Youth and Family Services, the Division of Family Practice, and Foundry Central. Foundry Prince George works closely with well-established services for high risk youth at Youth Around Prince (YAP).
Foundry Prince George, along with several other Foundry locations throughout the province, contributed to Foundry Central’s accelerated launch of virtual care. Virtual care was already in the planning stage and part of Foundry’s overall vision but roll out of this service stream sped up significantly in response to the pandemic. Mental health and substance use counselling services were implemented first, in May 2020, followed by peer support. Primary care services through a nurse practitioner were added recently.
Foundry Prince George contributed clinical counsellors to the virtual care team in the early implementation phase while Foundry Central worked to hire a dedicated virtual care team. This contribution has now ended but was invaluable to the timely launch and early learning and assessment of the model. All team members received significant training on how to deliver effective, welcoming virtual care, from experts with extensive experience in alternative service methods.
Young people (and their caregivers) across BC, regardless of whether they live in a community with a Foundry site or not, can now access mental health and substance use counselling virtually. If they choose, their information will be shared with the Foundry in their community for continuity of care. Hours of operation are approximately 1:00pm-8:00pm Monday through Friday.
Integris provided $25,000 to Foundry as a start-up partner in 2018.
Despite the rain, the PG Cycling Club had 36 registrants for the Club Funduro and end-of-season BBQ with the youngest rider being 8 years old! It was a great day, and through the mud, sweat, and tears, everyone had a fantastic time. We served about 50 riders and volunteers at the BBQ event after the race with the generous support of the Integris Credit Union #ICUBBQ.

The Prince George Cycling Club is an inclusive group that advocates for road, mountain, and urban cycling! We hold events, camps, and clinics for our members and families. We are responsible for the upkeep of the Pidherny Recreation Site, and we manage our volunteer trail building and maintenance groups, while working closely with them to keep biking trails a priority. We love hosting events in the community and enjoy seeing the smiling faces of cyclists around town.

Our membership numbers are key to showing both our local and provincial governments how important cycling infrastructure is in our community. Benefits of being a PGCC member include:

- Support trail maintenance, construction, and cycling advocacy
- Keep the bike park insured
- Have access to participate in races, group rides, and other fun events
- Receive 10% off Accessories, Parts, and Clothing at local bike shops
In 2020 and 2021, the Integris Community Foundation provided $30,000 in grants to the Takla Nation for their Emergency Sockeye Hatchery at Takla Landing. These funds were used to upgrade incubation equipment, purchase egg storage/shipping containment, purchase/install of battery-back-up for incubation pumps to continue operating in the event of power disruption giving vital protection for this endangered stock.
Integris is making significant investments in the Takla Nation’s Sockeye Hatchery given the Nation’s strong leadership and action-oriented approach. Together, we are working to avoid the extirpation of Stuart Sockeye – a species that has significant local and downstream benefits for habitat, wildlife (bears, eagles, ravens, wolves, orca) and humans. Here, we see Cory Williamson (Project Lead) and a Takla youth releasing Sockeye fry into the Kuzkwa River in June 2021.
Do Some Good is excited to celebrate International Credit Union Day 2021 alongside the amazing Credit Unions we work with!
