A multi-year grantee, we are excited to highlight Sher Vancouver LGBTQ Friends Society, recipient of a $25,000 unrestricted Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment grant in 2023, housed with the First West Foundation . We are honoured to award this grant through our new SOAR program supporting organizations committed to serving racialized groups.
Sher Vancouver supports queer South Asians, friends, and allies and responding to a need in the community, created a place for two queer south Asian women to expresses their thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences. Launched in 2021, the Sher Vancouver Podcast is a safe space for BIPOC 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and allies with hosts, Sharon, and Niri on a mission to highlight and celebrate queer folks across British Columbia.
"Sher Vancouver believes that everything is possible if we work together,” shares Sher Vancouver founder Alex Sangha. “With immense gratitude, we embrace the support of the First West Foundation, as their generous grant fortifies our core and critical programs.”
“From crisis counselling to peer support groups, outreach workshops combating bullying, racism, homophobia, and transphobia, to connecting vulnerable members with essential resources, we empower our community.” Adds Sangha, “this partnership drives the path towards unity and progress.”
