We are in a full-court press (March Madness basketball reference – lol) when it comes to 2023 granting but we are still lifting, amplifying, CELEBRATING our 2022 grantees.
Today we introduce you to BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (BCAITC) recipient of a $19,800 Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment grant through First West Foundation in 2022 for the BCAITC Pencil Patch Rebuild project.
The Pencil Patch Learning Garden, a one-acre outdoor classroom, was destroyed by the devastating Sumas Prairie floods in November 2021. While the rebuild will bring the garden back to its former glory, it will also expand its offering with new Indigenous and environmental learning zones.
As the community comes together to help rebuild the garden, the shared experience is building connection and community as the revitalized garden plays a new role - fostering community spirit and resiliency.
We are proud to fund BCAITC and their incredible rebuild work and spirit of resiliency in the Fraser Valley.
