Spent a wonderful morning with our friends at Phoenix Society as they broke ground on Surrey’s newest Community Garden adjacent to the Society's Social Innovation Centre. The Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment with First West Foundation have committed $100,000 to the project over four years to support with ongoing operating funds required to maximize the garden’s potential.
The Community Garden project will be a mixed used garden with 22 planters, fruit producing trees, a children’s space, harvest table and paved flex space. The garden will partner with local charities Surrey Food Bank , Surrey Urban Mission, Coast Mental Health, City Dream Centre and 99 Nursery.
The site’s grand opening is anticipated for early this fall. We can’t wait to see the magic grow in this joint collaboration effort with Phoenix Society, the City of Surrey and First West Foundation.
