Vote now for Literacy Now Cowichan by selecting an emoji below! Winning the $50,000 SimpleGenerosity grant from Island Savings Community Grant will enable Literacy Now Cowichan to expand its adult literacy program. 45% of British Columbians aged 16 to 65 have difficulty accomplishing some simple daily living tasks due in part to limited literacy skills. Tasks like filling out a form at work, navigating a website, finding information in a list sent home from preschool, using information on a food label or comparison shopping. This program is learner centered and each client receives free 1-to-1 tutoring using highly trained volunteers. In the past five years, “Pathways to Learning” has worked with over 800 adults from the Cowichan Region on all aspects of literacy, enabling them to get jobs so they may better support their families. Thank you for helping us celebrate Canada150 and strengthening our communities with SimpleGenerosity!
