The Central Okanagan Food Policy Council has developed a Good Food Box program for the region.
The Good Food Box is a non-profit, bulk produce purchasing and sales program that aims to increase access to healthy local food for all community members. The Good Food Box can be purchased by anyone. The more people that participate, the bigger the savings grow and the more sustainable the program will be. This is great for everyone especially for those whose food budget is already stretched thin. On average, customers save 20-40% off retail price!
We need volunteers to help us on Good Food Box pick-up days!
Some of the tasks include:
- set-up and clean-up
- unloading food orders from delivery truck - lifting heaving items ~20lbs
- weighing, counting and sorting fruits & vegetables
- greeting customers and helping them with their box
