In 1992, a small group of volunteers began a movement in Toronto’s High Park. That day they brought 1,500 people together to raise awareness and $85,000 for the breast cancer cause. This marked the beginning of what was to become Canada’s largest single day, volunteer-led event in the support of creating a future without breast cancer—the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. Today, the event has over 100,000 participants and raises over $20 million.
The CIBC Run for the Cure is a trailblazing partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), CIBC and communities across Canada that changed the face of breast cancer.
