Meet Kadence
Kadence was kind, compassionate, creative, and had a heart that naturally cared for others. Even while facing her own challenges, she always found ways to make people smile and remind them they weren't alone.
At just 12 years old, Kadence was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer. She courageously faced five years of treatment, surgeries, and hospital stays with incredible strength and resilience. Throughout her journey, one constant source of comfort and unconditional love was her service dog, Sadie.
The bond they shared went far beyond companionship. Service Dog Sadie provided comfort during hospital visits, helped ease anxiety, and gave Kadence the confidence to face each new day with courage.
Today, Kadence's legacy lives on through the Kadence Legacy Fund, supporting Veterans, First Responders, and their families with professionally trained PTSD service dogs.
We're also honoured to be developing a children's book inspired by Kadence and Sadie's extraordinary bond. Through beautiful illustrations and a heartfelt story, the book will help children better understand mental health, resilience, compassion, and the life-changing role a service dog can play during life's most difficult moments. Our vision is to place the book in schools, children's hospitals, Military Family Resource Centres, libraries, and mental health organizations across Canada, ensuring Kadence's story continues to inspire hope for generations to come.
Every life has a story. Kadence's story continues to inspire ours.
