Thank you Central Alberta Co-op Ltd....
On May 24, 2025 Soroptimist International of Central Alberta and the African Caribbean Centre of Central Alberta presented the second annual “Power of a Girl Conference” for girls 14-18 years, at Festival Hall in Red Deer.
This free conference empowered girls by giving them the self confidence and knowledge needed to achieve success in their future careers and personal lives. By reaching girls while they are young, we not only can help them stay healthy and safe in the short term, but we can reduce the number of women in crisis in the future. Putting girls on a path will help them realize their dreams.
The day was filled with informative speakers and a women’s career panel, dreamboards, fabric painting for a future quilt, swag bags, doorprizes and snacks and lunch.
Thank you to our amazing presenters – Trina Kennedy (The Power Within: How your Mindset Shapes your Future), Melody Klinck (Body Image and Self Esteem), Trisha Martinez (Keynote speaker and Fitness Break), Kailee Burkinshaw (Consent 101), and Jillian Vukovich (Building Your Financial Future – Smart Money Moves).
Thank you to our inspiring Women’s Career Panel, who shared information about their careers and their journey and education.
Tayler Rockstein – Rehabilitation and Disability Services
Shay Burgoyne – Dental Assistant
Ella Heistad – Firefighter/Medic
Allison Koch – Bylaw Officer
