Cyclist Embarks on Coast-to-Coast Journey Across Canada to Inspire Youth Fitness and Give Back to Community
Maple Ridge, BC – June 30th, 2025 — Adventurer and endurance athlete Kevin Binnie is preparing to embark on an epic coast-to-coast cycling journey across Canada, starting July 1st from Mile 0 in Victoria, British Columbia, and ending at Cape Spear, Newfoundland—the easternmost point in North America where explorer John Cabot landed in 1497.
Driven by a belief in the power of physical fitness to foster mental wellness, Kevin hopes the journey will inspire young people—especially those from underprivileged backgrounds—to build strong, healthy habits. "The Latin phrase mens sana in corpore sano—a healthy mind in a healthy body—captures my philosophy," he said. "Children in financially struggling families often miss out on opportunities to be active. We want to help change that."

Honoring tradition, Kevin will begin by dipping the back tire of his bike into the Pacific Ocean, with plans to conclude by dipping the front tire into the Atlantic completing a powerful, symbolic journey spanning the nation.
The route follows the BC Trail, part of the Canada Trail network, across British Columbia. Through the prairies, the route continues along Highways 501 and 13 through southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and into Manitoba. From there, the journey cuts south through Ontario and Quebec, continuing on through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and ultimately Newfoundland.
“I’m doing this ride for all the kids out there who haven’t yet had the chance to fall in love with being active,” Kevin said. “If this journey can inspire even a few to get out and move, it will have been worth every mile.”
