If you have been following along, you know we are celebrating our 2022 grantees as we work on our 2023 granting proposals. If you haven’t, we say welcome! Today, we introduce you to the Upper Room Mission Society; recipient of a $10,000 Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment grant, housed with the First West Foundation .
A pillar in the community for 41 years, Upper Room Mission is a day shelter for the unsheltered, marginalized, and vulnerable housed in Vernon. Providing over 70 guests access to drop-in services each day, including meals, access to washrooms, showers, laundry, clothing, and connection to community services. As General Manager of the Upper Room Mission, Jacco de Vin says, “it’s a place to get away from the stresses of living on the streets”.
“We are so thankful for First West Foundation support of the Upper Room Mission,” adds de Vin. “Your support enables us to be able to provide consistent emergency services, year over year, to a community that is struggling. Thank you for your commitment.”
We are very proud to support the incredible, hard, front-line work you do to serve the vulnerable in Vernon. We thank YOU!
