The First West Foundation team is full steam ahead with 2023 granting but we would be remiss if we didn’t continue to celebrate our 2022 grantees. And there is much to celebrate! Today we introduce you to Victoria Compost & Conservation Education Society, recipient of a $10,000 Island Savings a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment grant housed with the First West Foundation.
Providing support for student teams in Environmental Science at Royal Roads University through lab and field work, greater Victoria free soil testing, traditional harvesting sites and community gardens, as well as free follow-up workshops to assist residents in addressing and understand soil contamination.
“First West funds were crucial in supporting the development of the Healing City Soils remediation pilot project, the Ground Beneath our Feet,” shared Alexis Hogan, Executive Director of the Compost Education Centre. “Thank you for helping our organization pursue its mission. You have deeply impacted the CEC and its Healing Soils program.”
Thank you to the Victoria Compost & Conservation Education Society for taking care of our planet the way you do! We salute your commitment to environmental action and education.
