The PGPL Homework Help tutor works with small groups of students in grades 3-12 to build skills in Math and/or English. Students will be paired with an experienced university student for their weekly session. Free, one-hour tutoring sessions will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, booked on a first-come, first-served basis starting November 8, 2022. To register, call Youth Community Engagement Librarian Christopher Knapp at 250-563-9251 ext. 105. Knapp says, “As a cornerstone of our community since 2015, Homework Help has been a core program at the PGPL throughout the years, offering a profound impact on many young lives. It is with great excitement and thankfulness that we can bring back this program once more in-person for those who need extra supports in their earning and are wanting to build on their academic confidence and skills in a safe and welcoming space.”
This Program has been extremely popular and so well-utilized in the past that we haven’t been able to accommodate everyone who wanted tutoring services,” reports PGPL Manager of Communications& Engagement Jen Rubadeau. “Thanks to the generous support of the City and Integris, we are able to expand our offerings. The Integris Study Hall will be offered as a drop-in program at our Bob Harkins Branch, downtown on Saturdays from 10 am – 4:30 pm. Starting this Saturday November 5, students can bring their homework or school assignments and work on them with the support of an onsite tutor. This flexible option is a wonderful compliment to our structured Homework Help program as it does not require pre-booking and can be used as much as is needed by students.”
“The Integris Study Hall is another example of how we, as PG’s only local financial institution make meaningful, responsive and targeted investments in our community,” says Dan Wingham – Manager, Partnerships with Integris Credit Union. “Our collaboration with the PGPL in developing the program has been super exciting; both PGPL and ICU are ALL IN when it comes to innovating spaces that enhance access to learning and connection to community for kids and families. So many Integris members choose us given our Community Enrichment objectives and results. By keeping our profits here, Integris enriches communities … and not just for member-owners, but for everyone that calls HERE home."
