“I can’t help but be flooded with emotion. Kelly Towns and I are so proud to work for an organization dedicated to making a positive impact, and the support that G&F has provided speaks to our credit union values. We are so thrilled that these funds are going into the hands of support services which are a beacon of hope for our community.” ~ Mike Noordam, Manager, Abbotsford Community Branch

In November, Branch Managers, Mike Noordam and Kelly Towns visited four organizations in our community who are providing relief for those impacted by the devastating floods in southern BC.

Their first stop was Abbotsford Community Foundation where they presented a cheque for $50,000 on behalf of G&F Financial Group. Mike says, “They were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of support provided by our organization. This fund will support front-line agencies providing essential services to affected families and businesses.”

The next stop was The Salvation Army in Abbotsford. Emotions were high as Mike and Kelly presented a cheque for $25,000 to help with relief efforts. While the Salvation Army is already very busy supporting our community during the holiday season, the effects from the floods are far-reaching and have increased the pressures on this organization.

After that, Mike and Kelly went to Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue where they met a volunteer who was replenishing supplies at the yard. They presented a cheque for $50,000 to assist the hard-working team as they work around the clock ensuring the safety of our community.

The last stop of the afternoon was Archway Food Bank where Mike and Kelly presented a cheque for $25,000. They were given a tour of food bank, which is run by caring volunteers who serve their guests with dignity and kindness. This is a real ‘hand-up’ for our neighbours. They also run the Star-Fish Backpack program, giving after-school snacks and nutritious meals to students in need. And they provide a home delivery service for seniors in isolation. Every square foot of their facility is maximized to provide food and support for struggling families!

Thank you to all these organizations for the work you are doing to support and rebuild our communities!
