Our friends at Edward Milne Community School have been working hard in the garden this summer and Island Savings was proud to lend a hand to help their garden grow.

“The Summer Agroecology Work Experience Program was a great success! We hosted 6 students in the school gardens this summer,” shared Ashley Green, EMCS Society Community School Coordinator. “With the generous support of Island Savings a division of First West Credit Union the program was able to purchase equipment to process food, build a farm stand to sell the organic produce to the community, and attend a composting workshop.”

Beyond providing local, fresh, and healthy foods to the schools and community, the gardens help students learn about marketing, selling food, teamwork and connecting with the larger community.

Did you know, Simple Generosity Neighbourhood Grants support a wide range of community programs and projects that create connection and belonging for local communities all across Vancouver Island. To learn more, visit https://www.islandsavings.ca/community-leadersh...
