Employee Volunteer Spotlight
Did you know our caring employees donate thousands of volunteer hours in our local communities through our Employee Volunteer Program every year? To support their efforts, we draw three random winners every month and give them up to a maximum of $600/year in funds to direct to a charity of their choice. We’re thrilled to introduce you to one of these winners!
Sarah Duncan is the Branch Manager at Qualicum Beach. She’ll have been with Coastal Community for 15 years in November and has always embraced getting involved with her community. Sarah currently volunteers her time and expertise as the Chair of the Board for both the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation and the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce. She also wears the hat of Treasurer for the Qualicum Beach Elementary School PAC. Asked what drives her community spirit, she answered, “Getting involved with my community lets me give back to my home town and help make our communities strong, vibrant and engaging place to live and work.”
Sarah will be directing her funds to the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants program. This very timely initiative gifts small grants to help people engage in activities to help combat loneliness and build a sense of connection to the place they live. The idea is that when people feel a sense of belonging to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to engage in activities that help make it a better place.
