Boys & Girls Club - Supper Program

Community Nee

According to both Food Banks Canada and the Public Health Nutritionists of Saskatchewan Working Group, the number of children and youth who face food insecurity continues to rise in the province of Saskatchewan. From Monday to Friday, our Club is able to provide for the nutritional needs of the children and youth who attend our program by supplying an after-school snack, evening snack, and supper.

Our Supper Program is offered 5 days per week during the School Year and the Discovery Co-op is a committed and vital donor. Without the support of Discovery Co-op, we would not be able to offer our Nutrition Program to the extent we do!

Local Co-op Support:

Over the past five years, Boys & Girls Clubs of The Battlefords has experienced a dramatic rise in demand for our services. We have seen a 425% increase in After-School Program attendance over the past 5 years, and a 126% increase in nutrition program demands. In 2019 alone, we served over 33,000 meals and snacks – which is nutrition that some of our members may not have otherwise received.

The monthly food donation to our Supper Program helps our Club provide healthy snacks and meals at no cost to our families, which is helping to combat local food insecurity and lowering barriers for kids in The Battlefords. We could not have had this impact if it wasn't for the support of Discovery Co-op!
