Stories of our community involvement
KCR Community Resources is so proud to partner with Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society on the new Community Care Garden Project that will not only beautify our street but more importantly, it will increase food security for local vulnerable families, offer food literacy support to immigrant and low income families and it allows us to come together as a community.

Here is the morning crew of volunteers (socially distancing and grouped with people from their bubble) getting ready to build 14 planters that will be planted this afternoon with vegetables.
Honoured to help out KCR Community Resources with tea donations for their Family Friend Program which mentors single moms in our community who are in need of connection, support, and resources. We picked Alpina, a herbal blend that pampers the palate with a sweet berry character coming from black currants and blackberries. Thanks to @loewenlifestyle for putting the Mother's Day care baskets together. Happy Mother's Day!
This holiday season, our social committee teamed up with KCR Community Resources to adopt 2 local families in need. Pihl Law Corporation had such fun wrapping gifts and preparing the Christmas hampers! We are grateful for organizations like KCR that support families in our community, especially during the holidays. Thank you for all of your hard work and for inviting us to share holiday cheer with you!
Friday, June 14th is going to be awesome! Start your day with the Family Hub Drive-Thru Breakfast at Pearson Road Elementary - Come & get a delish & healthy breakfast, plus a little special something inside, with all proceeds supporting the HUB!
Today saw the presentation of the remaining installment of a three year grant resulting from a generous legacy bequest to United Way to “do something good in our community”. Knowing the increasing need for services for young children and families in Kelowna and the increasing social issues affecting our most vulnerable--our kids, United Way first invested in 2016 in a three year pilot project to create the one-stop-shop for at-risk families with children 0-12 years old.

The Central Okanagan Family Hub, based out of Pearson Road Elementary in Rutland, opened in June of 2016 and has been operated by KCR Community Resources since then. The Hub has helped over 13,000 visitors to date offering a variety of services and programs often as simple as offering a cup of tea and a friendly ear for a new parent struggling with their young family--not knowing where to turn for both practical and emotional help.
