The Airdrie Festival of Lights was started in 1996 by Stan Softley, an alderman and community volunteer. He formed a small group of dedicated individuals with a common goal, of providing the best Outdoor Christmas Light Display for families to enjoy. That group grew over the years to become the Airdrie Festival of Lights Society, which has continued to operate the Festival.
