Committee Member - Trans Inclusion in Sports

Make a Difference for Transgender Rights in Sports

Purpose:
As a member of the Advocacy Canada Committee on Trans Inclusion in Sports, you will contribute to advancing the inclusion, acceptance, and equitable treatment of transgender individuals in sports across Canada. Members will collaborate to foster national dialogue, advocate for policy and legislative change, and support initiatives that affirm the rights and participation of trans athletes.
Responsibilities
Advocacy and Awareness:
-Engage with sports champions, political leaders, and community stakeholders to promote trans inclusion in sports.
-Participate in events, panels, and outreach activities that raise awareness of trans rights in sports.
Policy and Campaign Support:
-Assist in developing and executing a national letter-writing campaign advocating for trans-inclusive policies.
Provide input on campaign materials, such as sample letters and talking points, to maximize public engagement.
Legislative and Policy Development:
-Collaborate to draft and support legislation promoting trans inclusion in sports.
-Offer insights and feedback on proposed policies or legislation to ensure alignment with the Committee’s objectives.
Community Engagement:
-Act as an ambassador for the Committee by sharing its initiatives within your networks and encouraging broader community participation.
-Promote inclusive practices at sports events and hold organizers accountable for creating safe spaces for all athletes.
Qualifications:
-Passion for advancing trans rights and inclusion, with a preference given to trans individuals involved in sports.
-Knowledge or experience in advocacy, community organizing, public policy, or sports leadership.
-Strong communication and collaboration skills.
-Willingness to contribute time and expertise to the Committee’s initiatives, including attending monthly meetings.
Members will serve a term of two years, with the option for renewal based need.

This volunteer position has no scheduling requirements attached to it. You can work out your availability and time commitment directly with the organizer.
