Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Cowichan Valley has been creating friendships since 1978. We started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and added Big and Little Sisters several years later. We have grown to include a variety of different programs that serve both boys and girls between the ages of 6-19 years of age. Big Brothers Big Sisters works with a variety of schools in District 79 to provide one to one volunteer opportunities through the In School and Teen Mentoring programs. Mentors spend one hour per week with a child who are considered at risk, participating in a variety of activities that both volunteers and children enjoy. Group mentoring (Go Girls and Game On) programs are also available at partnership schools and community locations. Group programs focus on healthy bodies healthy minds for youth ages 11-14 years of age. We currently serve the Chemainus, Duncan, Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill, Mill Bay, Youbou, and Cowichan Lake areas.
