Beaver Scouts Adult Scouter

Develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world.

Beavers are our youngest Scouts aged 5-7. We have two colonies who meet most Mondays and Tuesdays and we are looking for a coordinator to work with one of these colonies.
NOTE: You do not need to have kids in Scouts for this role
Able to:
• Help carry out the weekly program.
• Provide children 5-7 years of age with appropriately challenging experiences aligning to the Scouts Beaver Program
• Ensure that the health and safety of all members are maintained continually.
• Develop close working relations with other members of the team and share the responsibility of paperwork and operating the colony.
• Support and participate in special meetings and activities, including outings and camping experiences over several nights.
• Be confident with technology for communications including, communication, our ScoutsTracker Program, online repositories and more.
• Participate in colony planning meetings. Use program ideas that come from the Beavers themselves.
• Maintain good relations with parents/guardians, and encourage activities, which involve them.
• Work with the Coordinator for your section to plan, do and review adventures
Prepared to:
• Accept, and demonstrate personal values compatible with, Scouting's Mission and Principles.
• Subscribe to the Beaver Section's program goals.
• Be comfortable with, enjoy, and care about Beaver-aged children in modern developmentally appropriate ways.
• Be accountable for your actions.
• Follow Scouting's policies and procedures.
Willing to:
• Commit 4 hrs a week plus some weekends/holidays as needed.
• Acquire the knowledge and competencies appropriate to your role within one year through workshops and online and on the job training.
• Work cooperatively with other adults.
• Attend Group Council, Group Committee and local Council meetings as required.
• Be objective in evaluations.
• Provide a role model of appropriate adult behaviour.
• Wear the official Scouter uniform.

This volunteer position has no scheduling requirements attached to it. You can work out your availability and time commitment directly with the organizer.
