Shia Ismaili Muslims are a community of ethnically and culturally diverse peoples, united in our allegiance to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) and direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is a faith that teaches compassion, upholds the ethics of pluralism and respects the dignity of humankind. This strong ethos of social responsibility, particularly towards the most marginalized members of society, is reflected in our deeply-rooted tradition of voluntary service and contributing to the communities in which we live. To mark Canada’s 150th anniversary and the Aga Khan’s Diamond Jubilee, the Canadian Shia Ismaili Muslim community has pledged 1 million hours of voluntary service that improves the quality of life of Canadians or otherwise contributes to Canada. This initiative called Civic 150 begins July 1, 2017. Please join us in recording your contributions towards the pledge and help make Canada even better!
