Stories of our community involvement
The Jilly Box donates $30,000 CAD to NOW Canada Society

NOW Canada is a non-profit organization that provides safe housing, recovery services, and harm reduction services for women, youth, and families. We were thrilled to donate to them $30,000 CAD from The Spring 2022 Jilly Box, a portion of which went to their new safe housing project in Kelowna. This project focuses on providing affordable housing to women and children fleeing abuse in our community.

The Jilly Box reinvests $66,700 CAD in Indigenous Organizations

We are honoured to have reinvested a total of $66,700 CAD from The Fall and Summer Jilly Boxes into two organizations near and dear to our hearts: The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) and The Orange Shirt Society!

The Indian Residential School Survivors Society provides essential services to the survivors of residential schools and their families and we are honoured to have allocated $20,000 CAD from the sales of The Fall 2022 Jilly Box to this organization. We have also reinvested in the IRSSS 100% of the profits from the sales of the orange shirt we designed with Awasis Boutique as an add-on for this season. With the support of our community, we were able to reinvest a total of $39, 700 CAD to the IRSSS!

Our giving back initiatives this season went much further! We also reinvested $27,000 CAD from the sales of The Fall and The Summer 2022 Jilly Boxes to The Orange Shirt Society. This non-profit organization, led by Phyllis Webstad, supports the Indian Residential School Reconciliation, and is committed to creating awareness of the individual, family and community intergenerational impacts of Indian Residential Schools through Orange Shirt Society activities as well as raising awareness of the concept, “Every Child Matters”.

The Jilly Box donates $13,300 CAD to Ooknakane Friendship Centre
The Ooknakane Friendship Centre is an aboriginal not-for-profit society that is committed to providing holistic, culturally driven programs and services designed to support, educate and strengthen people of all nations. A portion of our sales from the Winter 2021 Jilly Box was donated to support existing programs that Ooknakane Friendship Centre runs such as their Employment and Life Skills Training program and Mental Health and Addictions services. The funds will also help create new and supplementary programs to better serve their community.

The Jilly Box Raises $138,600 CAD for Ukraine.
As the war unfolded in Ukraine in late February, our team gathered to raise funds and help support the families impacted by this devastating situation. We organized a quick sales event with one of our most sought-after products - the Jillian Harris x Jackson Rowe Scholar Shacket - and donated 100% of the proceeds to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
We are proud to share that in just five days, over 600 members of The Jilly Box community contributed to this cause, and together we raised a total of $138,600 CAD. On March 16th, Tyler Evans, co-owner of The Jilly Box, sent the funds off to the UNHCR. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone for making this possible!
This donation will support UNHCR’s Ukraine emergency response both inside Ukraine and in all surrounding countries. The UNHCR teams are on the grounds working around the clock, providing protection, shelter, healthcare, food, water, blankets, tarps, and more to support the most vulnerable. To learn more about the admirable work that the UNHCR is doing or to make a donation, please visit www.unhcr.ca.
