What people are saying about us
Mike HertzMedicine Hat Santa Claus Fund

South Country Coop and the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund share a long history of caring for our local community in so many ways. Our Coop has always shown exceptional care for local people and local causes by supporting many organizations and events that really affect the hearts and souls of our residents. Our MHN Santa Claus Fund believes every child deserves to have a Merry Christmas. Our goal is to ensure those less fortunate in our community experience the love and warmth of the holiday season. We provide low-income families with a full Christmas supper and toys for their children at Christmas. Just this past Christmas, because of the many generous donations we received from people and businesses like South Country Coop, we were able to serve 594 families and 1232 children. We are so thankful for all the wonderful assistance we receive from the community. Christmas can be a very difficult and stressful time for many and South Country Coop is always there for us!

It's a tad damp outside today, but on Thursday, June 9th, 2022, South Country Co-op was on the golf course hosting a smokie hole in support of the Taber & District Health Foundation. Thank you to all the golfers and friendly faces we served!

We were humbled to be part of Red Dress Day, organized by @Miywasin Friendship Centre.

South Country Co-op Team Members were in attendance to pass out water and granola bars to attendees, and to learn more about the purpose of the day: honouring missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.

Thank you to the Miywasin Friendship Centre for letting us be part of this important event to listen, learn, and understand the greater impact of your losses. ❤️ South Country Co-op Limited City of Medicine Hat
We are thrilled to see the Co-op Community Outdoor Classroom in use at the Nature Centre!
Earlier this week the Nature Centre partnered with Andrew Ichikawa of Music Together to offer a one-of-a-kind family event! This photo was taken before the program began as Andrew was entertaining participants who arrived early with some nature-inspired music.
Thank you to South Country Co-op Limited for supporting this amazing improvement at our Nature Centre! It is great to see our community gravitate to this spot to enjoy nature or socialize. This will get us back in the swing of things! Thanks again and Go Rebels!

We are so thankful to South Country Co-op Limited for their continued support to the food hamper program at St. John's Presbyterian Church. The donation of their bags has help our congregational funds go much farther in purchasing non-perishable food products. The focus of our program is to help vulnerable members of our community by distributing hampers to whoever comes to our door. Since January 2021 we have distributed over 300 hampers to people who are hungry and in need. With the help of South Country Co-Op we have been able to keep the program viable and we are so appreciative of their contributions.
St. John's Presbyterian Church Food Hamper Program

South Country Co-op Limited has been involved with our Food Hamper program since 2014. This program is part of St. John's Outreach ministry with food hampers, consisting of 16 non-perishable items, being distributed to people in our community. The number of recipients coming to the church asking for food has doubled over the last few years.

South Country Co-Op has been donating the bags that are used for hampers. Members of our congregation donate food and/or funds to purchase groceries. We were unable to offer this service for the better part of 2020 because of restrictions due to Covid. Late in October we were able to restart the program so that every Tuesday, from 10:00 - 12:00 noon, anyone can come to the church and receive a food hamper. We have been able to help about 100 individuals/families within the last two months.

The on-going support of South Country Co-Op enables us to provide this service to members of the community who are the most vulnerable and are in need of help. We are most appreciative of their involvement.
We're committed to giving back to the community!
