A quick update on the Co-op Community Outdoor Classroom at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre – we have experienced some great moments in the space that I thought would brighten your day! The Programming Team at the Nature Centre have been very enthusiastic about how the new space has impacted their work: "I just wanted to share how pleased I am with the new outdoor classroom space. It has been great seeing how often the public gravitates to that spot to sit and enjoy nature or socialize. Even when running my programs I’ve noticed a huge difference. Kids seem to be able to pay attention for longer, likely because the seats are more comfortable and they are less inclined to fall off of them. Having the gaps in the bars is great because I can point out wildlife in the nature reserve and they can see it from where they are sitting instead of crowding around the edge to catch a glimpse. One participant even mentioned how they could hear me better than they could in the old space." - TH
We are so grateful for the South Country CO-OP!!!!! They "come to the Table" to help us all of the time!!!
South Country Coop and the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund share a long history of caring for our local community in so many ways. Our Coop has always shown exceptional care for local people and local causes by supporting many organizations and events that really affect the hearts and souls of our residents. Our MHN Santa Claus Fund believes every child deserves to have a Merry Christmas. Our goal is to ensure those less fortunate in our community experience the love and warmth of the holiday season. We provide low-income families with a full Christmas supper and toys for their children at Christmas. Just this past Christmas, because of the many generous donations we received from people and businesses like South Country Coop, we were able to serve 594 families and 1232 children. We are so thankful for all the wonderful assistance we receive from the community. Christmas can be a very difficult and stressful time for many and South Country Coop is always there for us!
