Social Mission
Focused on the needs of our members, staff and communities, Northern is focused on our social and environmental performance, along with maintaining fiscal responsibility. We believe that we can make a real difference, and are continually looking for opportunities to support our employees, members and communities we serve. We are neighbours, and that means being dedicated to strengthening our Northern communities and making them better palces to live.
Stories of our community involvement
Terri won our April WIN/WIN Payroll Donation draw, and chose for the Charity Pot of $300.00 to be donated to Save a Stray Cat in Thunder Bay! Terri has a soft spot for animal wellness, and we are so glad to support a cause near and dear to her heart!

I was the lucky winner of the Northern Credit Union WIN/WIN donation draw. So happy to be able to pick the Algoma Autism Foundation to provide the donation to! It is so important to continue to raise awareness and provide support to those who need it.
Thank you to Northern Credit Union for this awesome initiative. I was the lucky winner of December's WIN/WIN Payroll donation draw and was happy to select @GBHospice as my charity of choice. My Grandpa was a resident their in late 2021 and received exceptional care. The staff provide outstanding care and compassion as families navigate a tough journey. We are very fortunate to have this service available locally in our communities!!
Karen and I both chose to donate our $100 earned from our Do Some Good charity volunteering to our local volunteer Search and Rescue organization.
As part of the Fill the Toyota campaign, we donated $500 to both the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent Place, to put food and essential items in the hands of those in need! Thanks to SooToday for including us in this wonderful community program. #Northern Credit Union
This year Rosie and Wayne decided to volunteer for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive. Last year Angie & Rosie, both long time Northern Credit Union workers did this and had so much fun that Rosie decided she would invite her retired husband this year. "People, along with some of our very own members were very generous in their donations. The connection to community and sense of giving back to a great cause is totally worth it. Next year I will bring candy canes to hand out and give more of my time. I love helping out and engaging with people. Merry Christmas Everyone!" - Rosie Vinet

As the winner of the 21 Community Charity Kickoff from the Durham Branch of Northern Credit Union I was able to make a donation to the Durham Hospital Foundation.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada provides short term financing, education materials, research funding, advocacy, and support to the 1 in 10 Canadians living with kidney disease. Every year, Kidney Walks are held across Canada to raise money and awareness, as well as foster community.

Catherine Sutherland (pictured right), who is not only a Volunteer Walk Organizer for The Kidney Foundation of Canada's Eastern Chapter but also a dear family friend, was kind enough to accept NCU's 21 Community Charity Kickoff donation on The Kidney Foundation's behalf and will be adding these funds to those raised during this year's Kidney Walk.

Tis the SEASON and the GARSON branch is hoping to help it be a little more MERRY in their community by collecting both FOOD and PJ's for the GARSON FOOD BANK. The generosity of the community has been tremendous and we are so very proud to be a part of it. Garson has proven it truly is TRUE NORTH STRONG! #Northern Credit Union
I volunteered for the Salvation Army Kettle drive again this year. This is something I do every year. I enjoy greeting the shoppers and helping out a good cause.
