Sebastian BuccioniEstonian Music Week

Northern Birch has provided instrumental support that helps us deliver our programming. During this precarious time in the arts, we are thankful to have been able to provide artists with opportunities to perform as part of Estonian Music Week. The team at Northern Birch is a joy to work with and together we've collaborated to promote our events and our partnership. Northern Birch's active and engaged support has undoubtedly been a key ingredient of our success.

Ruth YalleSeedrioru Estonian Summer Camp

On behalf of Seedrioru Juhatus, we would sincerely like to thank Northern Birch Credit Union for their full support of our fundraising initiative "65 years, 65 trees, $65.00". The money that was raised will go towards building and updating the facilities for the children at Seedrioru. The tree's will give shade when needed, shelter from the rain and beauty to the eye. Thank you Northern Birch Credit Union for your financial support, friendship and trust in Seedrioru. We look forward to working together in the future. Seedrioru Juhatus

Stories of our community involvement
We were proud to be the lead sponsor of the recent Latvian Independence Day celebration at Liuna Station in Hamilton. The event, "Latvia - Light of my Heart" was one of the first in-person events in the Hamilton area for the community since the pandemic started, and was a great initiative to bring the Latvian community together. Thank you to everyone who visited Ilze at our table and congratulations to the organizers!
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Estonian Music Week! Congratulations to all performers on the Northern Birch Festival Stage! We were excited to sponsor this event that bridged the gap between Estonian and Canada by bringing art and music to our local communities online and in-person. Until next year!
Ilze Williamson, from our Hamilton Branch, was proud to represent Northern Birch at the Hamilton Latvian School, sending well wishes and a specially baked Latvian kliņģeris on our behalf. We are proud to support the school to help their programs continue and to encourage the children to stay rooted to their community!

What do you like most about working at Northern Birch Credit Union?

It's like a piece of home in this new country. I moved to Canada quite recently and it has been so nice to have a workplace with Estonian music playing in the background, Estonian members coming in every day, and of course, getting to know my amazing co-workers.

What's your favourite restaurant or food?

Mom's cooking is still my favourite, but some amazing chicken wings and chocolate lava cake are also hard to resist.

Is there a community group or organization that's near and dear to your heart?

I arrived here in January 2021, during lockdown, so I haven't been very involved in the Estonian community in Toronto yet, but KESKUS International Estonian Centre is an impressive project! I'm thankful to be a part of it and excited to see it turning into a reality.

What's on your bucket list?

A lot of flying! I love travelling, and I'm always open to an adrenaline rush - skydiving, bungee jumping, rollercoaster, helicopter or a hot air balloon ride... yes, please!

How do you like to spend your weekends and free time?

Exploring the city, wandering around by the lake and in different parks, taking a lot of pictures and enjoying good food.

Happy International Credit Union Day! This year's theme is 'Building Financial Health for a Brighter Tomorrow'. This is a great opportunity for us to encourage the continued growth in our communities.

In the spirit of International Credit Union Day, on behalf of Northern Birch Credit Union, we have given $500 to each of our local Estonian & Latvian supplementary schools.

Stay tuned throughout the day to hear directly from the schools; what they do and how they are involved in the community.

Being part of the our credit union means you directly help support the groups within our communities.
Today we congratulated Latvija Amerika on its 70th anniversary, and donated $1000 on behalf of Northern Birch Credit Union. The newspaper continues to be a source of information and connection for the Latvian community, and we wish them all the best and thank them for their hard work! Pictured here is Baiba Reinfelde, Senior MSR & Wealth Services, presenting a cheque to the newspaper's long-time editor, Vita Gaiķe.
We were proud to sponsor the EGO Golf Tournament, where we also saw some of our staff and board members out on the course! Congratulations to EGO on their 25th year of bringing the Estonian community together.
