3% Tuesday has offered many of the participants at Centre for Young Parents access to nutritious, healthy foods that they could not have other wise afforded at their time of need. Thanks to this program many of the families involved with our Centre are not going to bed hungry and know where turn when they are in need of food security. Thank you so much to the New Horizon Co-op for your care and dedication in eradicating food security for many families in our area.

Stories of our community involvement
Our social media team, Kelsey and Jody, went on a bit of a shopping spree with the business card last month and were able to donate $1000 worth of gloves, mittens and hand warmers to our friends at Wapiti Community Support Association.

We cannot say enough good things about the Wapiti House and their team as they provide food, shelter and other essential items to our unhoused community here in Grande Prairie. ❤

We encourage our community to reach out to our shelters and find ways you can help. Our shelters are always in need of Winter items, food, personal hygiene items, etc.
We are thrilled to announce that we have raised $20,897 for the Canadian Red Cross BC Flood relief. But that’s not all, we also found out the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia are matching our donation, which gives us a Grand Total of $62,691!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, this donation will help so many families in their time of need.
Naomi from the Sexsmith Food Bank stopped by last week to pick up a donation from November's 3% Thursday!

Our patrons can shop with us this Thursday to participate in 3% Thursday, where 3% of our sales go to local-non profits that feed our communities. 🧡
Our local chapter of Family and Community Support Services was one of the recipients from our 3% Thursday in November!

Julie with FCSS stopped by last week to pick up their donation of $891.04. ❤

What is 3% Thursday? On the third Thursday of every month 3% of our food store sales go to local non-profits that help feed our communities.
We are pleased as punch to present the Grande Prairie Catholic School District Education Foundation with a donation of $3000.00!

The GPCSD Education Foundation allocates funding for special projects in the schools including the Snack Program. Last year they served over 100,000 meals to students and families.
New Horizon Co-op is proud to present the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation with an incredible donation of $56,255.00.

This donation will be going towards the Innovamed Ophthalmology Exam Room and will be named after New Horizon Co-operative Limited in the new hospital.

The impact of this donation will help ensure that patients in our region receive the best health care available, remain close to home, and remain connected with family members.
Our team reached out to Wapiti Community Dorm Society recently to find out what they needed the most for this Winter season.

We are more than happy to help out with a donation of $500 worth of gloves and hand warmers. Our shelters need our support now more than ever, especially during the freezing months in Northern Alberta. Contact the Wapiti Dorm Society to find out how you can help our houseless community. They are always in need of Winter items like gloves and warm clothes, dry foods, towels, and toiletries.
Seeing these cheques puts a huge smile on our faces! :) The Grande Prairie Catholic Family Services Society was one of our recipients for 3% Thursday in October and we were able to make a donation of $1799.40.

3% Thursday is on the third Thursday of every month, on this day 3% of our sales go to local non-profits!
We were able to present In The Woods Animal Rescue - Alberta Canada with a donation from our Coin Box!

In The Woods Animal Rescue is a volunteer run animal rescue dedicated to helping homeless, abandoned and surrendered animals.

Visit In The Woods Animal Rescue - Alberta Canada on Facebook for more information on how you can help!
We are so proud to make this donation of $4897.08 to the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre to go towards their Traditional Healing Garden project. The Traditional Garden will house programs alongside commemorative events to revitalize traditional knowledge systems, provide skill-building, and host community healing events. This creates a small path forward in our community towards reconciliation and healing.

This donation comes from several methods of fundraising. From cake sensation back in August, where a portion of every pack of cupcakes and cake sold went to this donation, as well as 3% of our food store sales on September 30th and the last portion came from or jean money fund which is where our team donates $3 to wear jeans on Friday.

Our Co-op would not be able to make this donation without the support of our members, patrons and team.

We are humbled to be on this life long journey of truth & reconciliation and we respectfully acknowledge that New Horizon Co-op is situated on Treaty 8 territory, traditional lands of First Nations and Métis peoples.
We're committed to giving back to the community!
