Thank you so much to FirstOntario Credit Union! Your commitment to our annual Strides For The General run/walk since 2017 has made a vital difference in enhancing patient care at Hamilton General Hospital, including the Regional Rehabilitation Centre. We are most appreciative to all the hardworking Blue Wave volunteers who support the event by giving their time on a Saturday. We are grateful to these friendly faces who help us register participants, hand out medals and provide directions to runners. We are proud to call FirstOntario Credit Union a partner of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation. Thank you for supporting health care in our region.

FirstOntario Credit Union and it's staff played a pivotal role in our Foundation's fundraising efforts this past year. Their dedication and enthusiasm while selling 50/50 tickets during our home games helped make it possible for us to raise over $150,000 this past season. Their commitment to volunteerism and strengthening our community was evident each and every game. The money they helped raise was put towards our Breakfast Program which feeds children at 23 local high need schools every day. On behalf of the Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation, thank you for helping make a positive impact in our community.

“The work that the FirstOntario Blue Wave volunteers have been doing in the schools in Haldimand and Norfolk County has made the Student Nutrition Programs stronger and richer over the years. It has been really great to be able to say they are one of our partners in supporting the student’s health in our area.” -Sharon Smyth, Community Facilitator, Child Nutrition Network of Haldimand and Norfolk “They are wonderful! Blue Wave volunteers mean a lot to our breakfast program. All the kids really appreciate it.” Wendy Sullivan – Education Assistant and student nutrition program coordinator.

Stories of our community involvement
Last delivery of the school year! I love delivering local healthy options to school. Makes me happy to see students having nutritious options to choose from. FirstOntario Credit Union #Nutrition for Learning #Health Port Weller School #sttheresa #canadianmartyrs
This week we celebrated National Volunteer Week! Our FirstOntario Credit Union #BlueWave volunteers play a big part in the way we support our communities. Here's a highlight of a few and what volunteering means to them. #NVW2022
“Food insecurity affects many and can make it hard for a child to focus on learning if they’re concerned with when they will eat next. Being able to do it in my own community makes it even better as I get to see the results of the program with my own eyes, and can teach those lessons to my children.”
- Chris Hogendoorn - Helps with SNP at Mary Ward and St. Paul schools

"I didn’t have any idea what to expect when I showed up to my first CARE Walk. It turned out to be a record-breaking event and it really showed me how impactful community can be when they come together."
- Josie Boetto - Volunteers with the Cancer Assistance Program

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
"Actions speak louder than words, and that’s why volunteering is a wonderful way to show #LocalLove and make a difference in my community."
- Elizabeth Diletti - Helps with SNP at Blessed Trinity and Lakeview Public schools
Beautiful day to deliver apples! Proud to be a part of an organization that supports the Student Nutrition Network FirstOntario Credit Union
FirstOntario Credit Union #BlueWave volunteers had the opportunity to help with two very unique experiences this past Sunday and Monday at Tim Hortons Field! As presenting sponsor of the Hamilton Bulldogs Outdoor Showcase Fan Fest, we were excited to engage with fans through FirstOntario and Bulldogs branded giveaways as well as some family fun games.

With our strong commitment to our community partners, we were also happy to share this experience with a few of them, giving families and children the opportunity to see their Bulldogs play in this one-of-a-kind outdoor game at Tim Hortons Field. #FirstONCommunity #FirstONVolunteering
Over the past month, FirstOntario Credit Union 's Dave Corbett has been fundraising for The United Way Halton and Hamilton's annual Sleepless in our Cities event, which took place this past Saturday, February 26. Dave and other's across our regions spent last Friday night in their cars, getting just a glimpse of what it feels like to be homeless.
Dave has raised nearly $10,000, adding to the event total of over $214,000. Take a moment to watch Dave share his thanks and experience from last weekend's event. #LoveLocal #BlueWave #FirstONCommunity
Beautiful sunny day to be out delivering apples in support of the Student Nutrition Program. Proud to be an employee of FirstOntario Credit Union, that uses its profits to help programs like this! #FirstOntario Credit Union rocks!
On Saturday, Team FirstOntario Credit Union joined Coldest Night of the Year walks across Canada in support of organizations that provide services to the most vulnerable in our communities. We were proud to support six walks and five organizations - Start Me Up Niagara in St. Catharines, Neighbour to Neighbour Centre in Hamilton, YFC Youth Unlimited - Norfolk County in Simcoe, The Inn at Oxford in Woodstock, and the Why Not Youth Centre in Brantford. In addition to FirstOntario's sponsorships, our teams collectively raised over $5,000 for these organizations.
On Friday, Feb 4, #BlueWave volunteers helped to serve a warm take out meal to the vulnerable of St. Catharines. Kelly Taylor McNeil , marlena stadnik-misener, Marisa Muraca and Christine Susa lent a hand at Knox Presbyterian to dish up the beef dinner that was sponsored by FirstOntario Credit Union . #FirstONCommunity #FirstONVolunteer
I just logged hours for 'SNP - Apple Pick Up and Delivery - Haldimand/Norfolk'! Delivering Apples first thing in the morning is a wonderful thing that FirstOntario can help with. If we didn't have the volunteers to pick up and deliver them some of the Schools would not be able to accommodate this option for the students. We are so privileged to be part of this great program.
FirstOntario Credit Union #BlueWave elves were spotted prepping and serving a Christmas dinner for the residents of the Bethlehem Housing and Support Service in St. Catharines.
We're committed to giving back to the community!
