Thanks so much to FirstOntario Credit Union for your continued support as a "Distance Sponsor" of our annual fundraising event, "Coldest Night of The Year"! And this year we are thrilled to recognize your increased level of sponsorship to "Supporting Sponsor"! FirstOntario Credit Union staff have also supported this event through a walk Team, who've raised nearly $3000, walking 5 km each year for the past 3 years! We are so very grateful for your kindness! Start Me Up Niagara serves the most vulnerable people in our community, experiencing homelessness, mental health, and addiction issues. Your contributions through Coldest Night of The Year help us to continue this much-needed support and service to our community! Your partnership is invaluable!

We are most grateful for the support provided by First Ontario and their Blue Wave volunteers! Hands on help by way of painting at our facility, organizing successful food and toy drives. Participating in our Adopt A Family programs and this year making sure that children and teens would receive a gift by collecting gift cards as part of our adopt an angel holiday program. Our ability to assist those in need in our community is enhanced by the efforts, dedication and generosity of the Blue Wave Volunteers. The commitment by First Ontario in Supporting "their" community is certainly valued here at Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold. THANK YOU!

We are honored to have partnered with First Ontario Credit Union and the wonderful, committed and passionate group of Blue Wave volunteers. This year has been especially challenging for a small not for profit like ours to pivot our fundraising events into virtual events that everyone can support in a safe manner. The Blue Wave volunteers have "virtually" joined our committee's and helped to implement these changes. They have reached out to their networks to help us raise the needed sponsorship dollars, silent auction items and participated wherever we needed help. They are always professional and go well beyond our expectations. Thank you Blue Wave Volunteers - You are the Best!

Stories of our community involvement
We believe in the importance of helping our neighbours and our communities, now more than ever. To help make this holiday a little brighter for families and individuals, we donated $50,000 directly to local food banks and food assistance programs in our communities. #FirstONCommunity

Time is the greatest gift you can give and we're proud of our #BlueWave volunteers. We took a look back at our support of Neighbour to Neighbour during last year's Pop Up Toy Store. #FirstONCommunity #FirstONVolunteering #TBT
Some of our FirstOntario Credit Union #BlueWave volunteers spread some holiday cheer by writing letters to seniors that will be included in Christmas hampers provided by Good Shepherd and Wesley in Hamilton. This was a great way to support our community in a safe, socially distant way and brighten someone's day during our Season of Giving. #FirstONCommunity
Today we made a $500 donation to the Niagara Toolbox Project that provides socks, toiletries, some healthy food and a gift to men who are homeless or living in poverty in Niagara.

Last year 750 men were helped through the initiative and they are on track to help 1,000 this year. FirstOntario is glad to offer support – including a basket of donations collected by our Operations team - during our season of giving.

On a cold and wet weekend, Hamiltonians dropped off more than 3,000 kilograms (6,800 pounds) of food during the2020 Holiday Food Drive at Lime Ridge Mall Nov. 21 and 22. FirstOntario Credit Union #BlueWave volunteers were happy to help the socially distant collection for Hamilton Food Share and the 13 food banks and meal programs they support in the city. We lent our community partners Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation a helping hand and delivered some Christmas cheer in our community this weekend. Another way we are giving back during the FirstOntario Credit Union season of giving. Joanne Battaglia jessica plenzick Christine Susa

Today we recognize #GivingTuesday and kick off FirstOntario Credit Union season of giving and charity throughout December.

At FirstOntario, GivingTuesday is a way to kick off the many initiatives that branches and offices take on in support of their local communities such as food or toy drives, raffles or 'adopting a family'. While we won't be able to support causes in the same way this year, we are encouraging others to get involved. Today we donated $500 to Hamilton Food Share with Alex Riselay at our Centre on Barton Branch.
We're committed to giving back to the community!
