Our volunteer spotlight this month is on Communications Specialist Gerry Weaver . Gerry has been working with Coastal Community’s Marketing team for four years now, and she was so grateful to have the opportunity to join the team for a volunteer day with HeroWork Victoria. This amazing organization helps renovate buildings for local charities. In their words, it’s like modern day barn raising! Gerry helped with the renovation project for Indigenous Perspectives Society in Victoria.

Asked about the experience, Gerry said, “At the end of the day, I was paint spattered, tired—and completely uplifted to help with turning IPS’s building into a more efficient and culturally relevant space. It was a great day!”

Gerry will be directing her winnings to Vancouver Island Mental Health Society. “The last couple of years have been so stressful for so many people,” she said. “It’s really important that there are mental health resources available to help us through.”
