“Thanks to the Valley First Community Endowment we are able to offer our caregivers one-on-one support, clinical counselling, a respite program, a group peer support program as well as access to online resources and selfcare planning,” says Samantha Monk, Prevention & Education Coordinator at BrainTrust Canada Association.
The First West Foundation was proud to award BrainTrust Canada a 2021 Valley First Community Endowment grant of $10,025 for their Caregiver Support Program. The program supports the caregivers of loved ones diagnosed with acquired brain injury in the Central Okanagan. Caregiving burnout is common as caregivers often struggle to find balance for themselves and care for their loved ones.
