We love our seniors and encourage everyone to share their time and talents to provide awareness and prevention of #elderabuse. Today, June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. We are pleased to provide funding for senior's programs across our regions.
Earlier this year, the South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society received a $9,000 First West Foundation Community Response Fund grant through the Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union Community Endowment supporting their Safe Seniors, Strong Communities outreach program. Last year the project supported 451 seniors with 1,100 grocery deliveries, 5,500 hot meals and over 1,500 wellness calls.
Additionally, the Penticton Seniors’ Drop In Society was a recipient of a $10,000 First West Foundation Community Response Fund grant through the same community endowment connecting isolated seniors with a hot meal and a friendly face.
