United Way 'Day of Caring' PPE Drive-Thru - Impact Statement

Community Impact

By loaning Secure-Rite resources to facilitate:

• The logistics of 2 incoming deliveries
• 4 weeks of storage container rental donation
• 1 morning of volunteers on site sorting products
• 1 afternoon of local charities diving through the Secure Rite yard to safely pick up their boxes….

Your team were able to help United Way achieve the following impact in our local community….

The safe distribution to 46 local Okanagan charities and community programs of:
5200 sets of gloves
4320 Lysol wipes
50,000 non-medical masks
Over 100 bottles of sanitizer concentrate

The breakdown of the 46 organizations who took part serves the following primary social focus areas, which represent United Way’s 4 main priorities:

23% Children & Youth
35% Community Capacity Building / Resource & Referrals
20% Mental Health & Addictions
22% Poverty

Through the average number of clients served by each agency, the PPE distributed in one afternoon through the support of Secure Rite, has helped approximately 6440 local people per week, continue to safely access the services they need from our local agency partners on the ground.

And of those thousands of local people supported via this initiative…
• one teen being able to safely access free in-person counselling for their increasingly acute anxiety could be a life saved,
• one adult individual accessing safe weekly supports following a head injury could lead to the opportunity to confidently re-enter employment
• one senior continuing to participate in a safe weekly grocery shop with a volunteer could avoid them sinking into depression from isolation & increasing their needs from healthcare.

The impact your support has on making things like this happen can be much more far reaching that you think, and we value our ongoing relationship very highly. As you continue to shape the future impact Secure Rite would like to have in our local community, and any emerging areas of focus, please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. Together we can make things happen, both small and big, that can often make a life changing difference.

How You Can Help

United Way Southern Interior BC operates multiple programs and events through the year, and are always looking to inspire new volunteers or donors in the work they do in our local community. They also work closely with anyone organising their own fundraiser where UW is a beneficiary, to ensure all participants are fully aware of the impact of their efforts on local vulnerable individuals.
