Meet Mike Goerzen !

Mike is the AVP of Marketing and has been with Coastal Community for 18 years. Volunteering is important to him and he’s given his time to various organizations over the years. For the last five years, Mike has volunteered as a coach for his sons’ soccer teams with the Nanaimo United Football Club. He also sits on the board of the Nanaimo White Rapids Swim Club and has held the position of Registrar for the last two years.

Mike got involved with the Nanaimo White Rapids Swim Club when his boys joined. The club was in need of a parent on the board with a business acumen. Mike felt the registrar role was a good fit for his skill set as it involves website and communications. The position also requires the ability to deal with and manipulate data, which is part of his role with Coastal Community.

“I wanted to be involved in the organizations my kids participate in,” says Mike. “For soccer, there was a need for a parent to step in and coach. Even though I had no soccer coaching experience, I decided to go for it.” Mike now has such a passion for coaching he’s recently earned his Soccer Canada C-License!
