Meet Heidi Brunton, sometimes known as ‘Mother Hen’ around the food bank. She is the heart behind the Perishable Food Recovery Program at our West Kelowna location. Volunteering five days a week, Heidi makes sure fresh foods going to our clients are high quality and always helps her teammates feel supported. She's been volunteering with us for over a decade!

Why is volunteering important to you?
I love the feeling I get about supporting a cause I care about.

How did you get connected with the food bank?
I was introduced to the Food Bank by a friend in 2010.

What do you love most about volunteering with us?
It gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment knowing I’ve made a difference in a person’s life.

What is the most important trait of a volunteer?
A team player-- able to take initiative and to always stay humble.

Why should other community leaders volunteer?
To have a better understanding of how the Food Bank operates, how the volunteers work together, and to see what kind of donations that are provided by the community.

Thank you Heidi for your extraordinary support. We don’t know where we'd be without our Mother Hen!
