First Credit Union is very excited to be donating $2500.00 to the Cumberland Community Schools Society (CCSS) and their Healthy Food Program (pictured below: Sue Loveless, Executive Director - CCSS and Craig Keeping, Branch Manager - First Credit Union). The Healthy Food Program provides breakfast, lunch and snacks to students in Kindergarten to Grade 9 at Cumberland Community School. The program focuses on increasing access to healthful foods, which leads to better eating habits and positive healthy outcomes. Poverty has been identified as a barrier to accessing healthy food. Census data indicates that 20.5% of Cumberland residents aged 0 to 17 are living in low income families. The CCSS Healthy Food Program ensures that all students, including the most vulnerable, have the nutrition they need to succeed in school. Students all eat the same lunch and benefit not only from proper nutrition, but from the connection and community that sharing a meal provides. First Credit Union is very excited to support this program and be acknowledged as a Major Supporter of the Cumberland Community Schools Society!
