A big thank you to Ashly Gait who has recently joined the Board of Directors with our community partners at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cowichan Valley. Ashly’s new volunteer role will have her assist BBBS with their goals in creating individual and group mentoring relationships amongst adults and youth. BBBS offers a wide range of mentoring opportunities: one-to-one matches, in-school mentoring, and 7-week group mentoring programs. There are currently over 53 children and youth waiting to be matched with a caring adult in the Cowichan Valley.

BBBS Executive Director Erin Generous recently dropped by our Mill Bay branch to meet with Ashly and drop off registration packages for this year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake event which is the organization’s largest fundraiser. This year’s event will take place March 4th at the Duncan Bowling Alley. Teams of 4-6 players are encouraged to sign up and collect pledges to participate. This year’s theme will be “Super Heroes” and teams are encouraged to dress up as their favourite. If you are interested in starting up a team please contact Erin at 250-748-2447. Island Savings Community Crew is proud to be supporting this year's event with a number of volunteer positions.
