Our Financial Literacy team presented a workshop this week covering the process of preparing for homeownership. We had 32 people attend and know there’s a lot of bugeting and planning happening around town these days.
Revelstoke Credit Union’s Community Giving Program has once again been set in motion. In keeping with it's on-going commitment to Members and the community, RCU will be distributing $100,000 to community organizations, programs and capital projects.
The Community Giving Program is one way that Revelstoke Credit Union invests a portion of its profit back into the community. RCU has now returned nearly $6 million to its Members and the community since 2001.
Community Giving and Community Giving - Capital Projects are designed to help Revelstoke's non-profit and charitable organizations fund their programs and projects. Application forms are available at Revelstoke Credit Union and on-line at revcu.com and return them for consideration no later than March 1, 2019.
Sutton Place Hotel at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is hosting a Christmas Tree Pageant in support of the Community Connections (Revelstoke) Society. Ballots are $5 with all funds being donated to support the Food Bank. Your donation gets you entered into a draw for some great prizes too. So, next time you are out, head to the Sutton Lobby and vote for the Revelstoke Credit Union tree and you may even win an amazing prize!
Revelstoke Credit Union staff have some Christmas cheer packages all set to go out to some local senior citizens. This Christmas initiative is a tradition for the RCU social committee headed by the two Crystals in the left, Mike and Erika are just gems!
This Fall, Revelstoke Credit Union sponsored five young artists to paint their own banner as part of the city of Revelstoke's annual program. These banners will hang from light posts around town this winter. Here are two of the winning designs.

Revelstoke Credit Union sent two teams of volunteers into the streets of Revelstoke for the annual Emergency Services Food Drive. This is the single most important food drive of the year for Community Connections (Revelstoke) Society Food Bank, in both raising awareness and stocking shelves. Last year, with the help of 300+ volunteers, the Emergency Services food drive was able to collect over 12,000 lbs of food and thousands of dollars in cash donations.
The City of Revelstoke puts a fresh set of banners on many of its light posts each year. RCU is sponsoring the cost for five of these banners to be painted by some well deserving children this winter. Their creations will decorate the streets of Revelstoke in the Spring of 2019. The contest closes next week, Friday September 21. Pick up ballots at RCU, RCU Insurance, the Early Years Centre, Community Connections and the Community Centre, then draw your picture for us and drop it at the Credit Union before 6 on Friday.

Revelstoke Credit Union is back again this Summer, shopping for the Community as a way of helping the Community Connections (Revelstoke) Society Food Bank. Help us fill the shopping carts in the lobbies of RCU and RCU Insurance and get the shelves at the Food Bank filled. Come by Friday afternoon for a free bag of popcorn with your food bank donation and have a friendly visit with our wonderful staff.
Revelstoke Credit Union is a participating sponsor in the Bank Heist. This time trial is another great event in Revelstoke to test your fitness and raise funds for the Revelstoke Community Foundation. The Revelstoke Community Foundation exists to provide financial support to non-profit organizations all over our city. Funds donated are invested prudently with revenues injected back into our community through a variety of projects. Revelstoke Mountain Resort organizes and hosts this event, this is the second year for the Bank Heist fundraiser and time trial. Join Revelstoke Community Response Network for a brief discussion and workshop on elder abuse. Some Revelstoke Credit Union staff will provide a look at financial wellness for seniors, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day approaches on June 15. We'll be in the Macpherson Room of the community centre from 6pm until 7:30pm
The Revelstoke Cycling Association officially opened Miller Time, the adaptive trail that was built over the past year. Chris Miller has been a great inspiration in the cycling community and for this project. Funding for the build came in part from the Community Giving Program at Revelstoke Credit Union. It’s a great addition to the trail network.
Revelstoke Credit Union held its Family Fun Run and Road Race this past Sunday. RCU is proud to hold this event as a barrier-free morning of fun, fitness and community. This is the third year of waiving any type of entry fee while still providing great prizes and family fun. Twenty-two RCU volunteers, comprised of staff, directors, and their families, worked together to make this day possible.
